In late March, WiGiv recognized a need close to home. The pandemic forced the residents of Sedgebrook (home to Mom and Dad Williams) to stay at home, leaving them without the ability to shop for groceries or run to the drug store. WiGiv sprang into action, coordinating with the Sedgebrook management staff to provide shopping and delivery services for the residents. Orders trickled in at first, but word spread quickly, and by mid-April, WiGiv was filling 12 to 15 orders per week. On Memorial Day weekend, we informed the residents that all tips would be donated to Salute, a charitable organization that WiGiv has supported for years, and Sedgebrook residents responded generously. Through August, WiGiv has shopped and delivered over 140 grocery orders and raised over $1,400 for Salute.
WiGiv will continue to shop and deliver groceries for Sedgebrook residents as long as the need exists.
